Volkswagen - basic company info and current lineup
Volkswagen is Europe's largest, and world's third largest car maker (after Toyota and GM).
VW life started in Hitler era, when he asked Porsche to create a people's car, aka VW Beetle. Beetle became an all time classic, urban icon of the 20th century.
VW created few more legends, biggest of which surely is VW Golf (known as Rabbit in US), which is surely world's best hatchback model ever, Polo and Passat.
It has a somewhat joint history with Audi - both brands influenced the other in more than one way, and over the years.
Even nowadays, most Audi cars are using VW engines.
Current VW Lineup:
VW has presented a new Passat at Tokyo Motor Show. It's called Passat Alltrack; it's a bridge between Passat Variant and VW Tiguan.
Based on Variant, it got an inch higher ground clearance, bigger and more robust bumpers, new alu wheels and extra luxury in the interior. Its length is 4.77m, with huge trunk (603-1730l).
2.0l TDI (170bhp) and 2.0 TSI (210bhp) engines come with four wheel drive, "4motion". 1.8TSI (160bhp) is a front wheel drive, while 4motion is an option with 2.0 TDI (140bhp).
CC is a new VW model, positioned between Passat and Phaeton. New model is high class 4-door coupe limousine. All diesel engine have start-stop system, while US buyers will have a privilege to purchase sporty VW CC with 300bhp.
