Land Rover is English mark which started 60 years ago.
It was named after one specific vehicle which turned to be successful, so the whole range of future cars got its name.
For decades after the WWII, Land Rovers were the synonym for all terrain vehicles. However, Japan manufacturers have entered the market and Rovers had to change.
Despite all the improvements implemented over the past years, it is still last in reliability tests and consumer reports in US.
Above cannot be said for Range Rover, LR's luxury SUV.
