Kia - basic info and current lineup

Kia is a South Korean car company, a division of Hyundai Kia Automotive Group.

Since 2005, Kia focused on European markets, making huge successes in UK, for example.

Transfer of technologies between Hyundai and Kia is the reason for somewhat similar models.

Latest example of such symbiosis would be Kia Cee'd, which is a more affordable version of Hyundai i30. Very similar statement is valid for many other Kia models.

Current Kia Lineup:

  • Compacts - Rio, Soul, Picanto, Venga
  • Mid sized - Cee'd, Cee'd SW, Pro Cee'd
  • MPVs - Carens, Sedona
  • Crossover and SUVs - New Sportage, Sorento

Kia has announced that new Cee'd will be presented in Geneva next month. Announcement is supported by only one teaser image of new Cee'd, from which it's clear that front grille style is similar to Picanto and Rio, but with less square corners. New Cee'd is similar to modern hatchbacks with its coupe alike silhouette.

Good guess is that it will be based on new Hyundai i-30.

Striking Kia's concept KV7 has wing rear doors. Interior is very much living room alike - co drivers' seat can be turned for 180 degrees, while instead of 3rd row of seats it has a cabinet and a standalone seat.
